Traditionally most CVs are written in chronological order (i.e. going from the most recent job to the oldest one in sequence).
Some observers say that CVs need to be a full chronological record of your work history, and in strict chronological order. However, this is just not so. Yes, if you are just setting out on your career then a chronological CV is probably your best bet. However, roll on 25 years and several career changers later and a typical chronological CV would probably do your chances more harm than good. The best CV writers have the intelligence, flexibility, creativity and experience to put your CV in the best format for your needs, and whilst in many cases this may be in chronological format, this isn't always the case.
